I have a keen interest in fashion at both educational level and for leisure activity. Having taken textiles as a school subject for both GCSE, receiving an A, and then continuing at A Level shows I am passionate about clothes and the fashion industry. Putting an outfit together is something I really enjoy, this was highlighted when I took up the role of Textiles Organiser at my Sixth Form; Arnold Hill Academy, where I directed and took part in the school Fashion Show in 2013, this showed my capacity to put together events and outfits whilst directing other aspiring designers and their work. I have also undertaken work experience at the Textiles Workshop during the summer of 2013 where I dealt directly with people of all ages to help them progress through a fashion course, a sewing course or an embroidery course. I took direct sales for equipment, did daily stock controls for the shop and rearranged the shop window on a daily basis.
Now at Birmingham City University studying Fashion Design, I have learnt design, sewing, pattern cutting and many more skills. Last summer I moved over to New York for 2 months to take part in an internship at a Fashion Label called Tia Cibani. During my time here, I helped with designing the new collection especially accessories, I assisted the design team in day to day tasks, I helped with seasonal research and with Photoshop, I helped with the more business side doing P.O.’s and costing sheets and I ran a lot of errands! I wrote a blog whilst I was there to show employers what tasks I took part in during my time in New York. I have worked at London Fashion Week as a dresser for the models for lots of different designers which was a great experience and also at a Fashion Show for M&S for the same company and I currently work as a sales assistant at French Connection, Selfridges.
I am a very hard working student, I put all of my time and effort into my degree and I am very committed to doing well and becoming successful. I am an extremely passionate and willing individual with a dream of having a career in the fashion industry.
