Living the Dream
Anyone with a dream of having a career in the Fashion Industry will know that it's not the friendliest or easiest avenue to go down... In fact, most will have the vision/an experience of what some may call 'unpaid slavery'.
I attended my first day working for ASOS on Wednesday 6th July 2016 - I was unsure of what to expect but after being in the building for 10 minutes - it gave me a whole new insight into the industry. I was pleasantly surprised with what I was hearing in my induction and I just knew that this was going to be the start of an unforgettable experience with a company who would genuinely look after you.
Week One
After my Induction, I met Ellie - the current Design Intern who I was going to be taking over. We had three days for Ellie to teach me everything that she knew and had learnt whilst working at ASOS in the previous 6 months.
First, she introduced me to everyone on the Womenswear Design Team which consists of around 40 people so as you can imagine, I'd forgotten everyones names in a matter of seconds. Everyone was absolutely lovely and so welcoming. Before we started working, Ellie took me around the whole of WW Floor - from Design to Styling where all the shoots take place, to buying etc - Amazing. We got a cuppa (of course) and cracked straight on.
The first three days went incredibly quick and I learnt A LOT!! Just before I was leaving for the weekend, Sian (Head of Design) gave me my first proper task/deadline. I had to make a Trend Pack for SS17 that everyone would use to design from. I was looking forward to getting on with this on Monday!
